Raffaella
Bortolini
Shawm, baroque oboe and recorder
Roots
I was born and raised in Italy, in Veneto.
Study
After completing a master’s degree in baroque oboe in Freiburg im Breisgau (DE), a master’s degree in shawm followed at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis (CH). I am currently completing doctoral studies at the Sorbonne University in Paris.
Professional
I think it’s nice that I can earn a living by making music. In addition, I occasionally collaborate on projects related to my research group at the university.
Why
I like performing, but I’m also very interested in music iconography and digital humanities.
Elective Affinities
Besides “bio-ecologicalm” tourism I also like outdoor sports and board games. My favorite authors include Jerome K. Jerome, Douglas Adams, and Luis Sepúlveda.
Something else
I like to craft, although I am extremely clumsy.
