Reopening Gaffurius' Libroni (Januar 2022)
Studierende und Lehrpersonen der Schola Cantorum Basiliensis
The Schola Cantorum Basiliensis (SCB) is renowned worldwide as a college for early music and its performance practice. In recent years, the SCB has expanded its curriculum with numerous Renaissance offerings, as this era enjoys wide interest from students. Since 2018, there is also a new master’s program specifically for Renaissance music. With the cooperation project “Reopening Gaffuris’ Libroni”, ReRenaissance and the SCB set a common accent: In a practical seminar during the fall semester, students and lecturers prepared the concert program, which is based on the findings of the SCB research team. In this constellation a new program with the special motets repertoire was created. In the seminar, basic performance issues of this music such as reading from original notations, solmization practices, improvisation techniques, accidental issues (musica ficta), text underpinning, etc. will be discussed and put into practice.
