Korneel
Van Neste

Voice (countertenor and tenor)

Roots
Born and raised in Belgium.

Studies
I began my music studies in Leuven, where I graduated with a Bachelor’s degree. This was followed by a Master’s degree in Early Music at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague. (I hope to study in Basel soon!)

Professionally
At the moment I work full-time as an early music singer. I regularly sing with ensembles such as Cappella Pratensis, Vox Luminis and Titans Rising. I have also recently started directing my own ensemble called “Paradise Repaired”.

Why
People often talk about a “calling” in relation to religion. I see music as a kind of religion that I feel called to.

Elective affinities
I have a great passion for games, Dungeons and Dragons and other geeky stuff. Important book: “His Dark Materials” (P. Pullman). Important CDs: Ensemble Organum: “Messe de Nostre dame”; le poème harmonique: “anamorfosi”. Important poems: “When I have fears” (J. Keats) and “Ithaka” (C.P. Cavafy).
