Roots
I was born and raised in Gruyère, in the canton of Fribourg.
Study
First, I studied at the University of Fribourg and at the University of Heidelberg. Then I came to Basel, where I completed my university master’s degree. This was followed by vocal studies specialized in medieval-renaissance at the Schola Cantorum with a master’s degree in medieval and renaissance singing.
Professional
I work as a freelance singer and musicologist.
Why
The interest in the music of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance came through the study of musicology. Singing this music, it became a passion.
Elective Affinities
When I discovered the songs of Gilles Binchois recorded by Dominique Vellard at the age of about 20, it made a deep impression on me. I was particularly fascinated by his vocal aesthetic.
Something else
For several years I have been interested in spreading early music outside of connoisseur circles. That’s why I created an association that organizes events in the Gruyère region that combine music with hiking or heritage discovery.
