Nathaniel
Wood
Trombones and slide trumpets
Roots
Syracuse, New York, USA – not far from Lake Ontario.
Studies
I studied modern trombone at Oberlin Conservatory and historical performance practice at Case-Western Reserve University (Cleveland) and Schola Cantorum Basiliensis.
Professional
I freelance on a variety of historical brass instruments, from medieval busines to trombones and trumpets of the Romantic period. I also build carefully researched copies and reconstructions of historic brass instruments.
Why
In short, I’m lucky enough to find a path where music, history and craft – three of my passions – meet!
Hobbies
I think I’m still searching, but the journey is the destination, right?
Something else
I hope that I always manage to stay curious about the next discovery, the next new experience.
What question would you like to ask yourself? (please answer them too)
I would probably wonder what question to ask myself and then not know what to answer.
