Böhlen
Recorder and Saxophone
Roots
I was born in Würzburg and grew up in northern Germany, in East Frisia.
Study
Recorder with Adele Weikelt, Ulrike Petritzki, Günther Höller and Dorothee Oberlinger, in Amsterdam with Walter van Hauwe and Paul Leenhouts. Jazz saxophone with Jasper Blom, Ferdinand Povel and Domenic Landolf. Improvisation with Rudolf Lutz.
Professional
As a recorder player and jazz saxophonist I play in my own and other ensembles and bands. The so different people of these ensembles and their musicality motivate me every day. I am equally fascinated by learning and teaching: I teach at the Zurich University of the Arts and at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis.
Why
Music and making music connects everything human in the most powerful way. I can’t do without that and I’m grateful that I get to be a musician.
One remark
In retrospect for me personally of importance is the seemingly always too colorful reality with too many interests. I always try to focus better, again and again without success.
